About Me

My name is Suzanne (or Susan if we’re speaking Spanish) and I am a 20-something American living in the DR. In 2012 I graduated from Cedarville University with a degree in Early Childhood Education, Spanish, Bible, and Teaching English. That August I moved to San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic and taught English for four wonderful, hard, funny, stretching, memorable years. In June of 2016 I decided to trust my gut (which is where the Spirit lives) and move to the mountains of Jarabacoa. I’m taking a break from teaching and instead doing the hard work of learning something new. Now I meet all kinds of interesting and exciting and precious people from all over the world at my new job as manager of Jarabacoa Mountain Hostel. Whatever my vocation I always take as much time as I can to read and write.

I write about what I like. I like God, Harry Potter, tacos, sit down games, braiding my hair, reading books, going to the movies, writing, a healthy self-esteem, my pets, and Netflix. (More about me)

    1. Thank you! My life is nice. I’m excited to learn more about what life is like in Singapore from your stories! Also, you seem to be a lot further along in the novel writing process so I’m going to be taking notes.

  1. I don’t know if you do/like such things, but since I was nominated to one, I wanted to keep it going and share with even more people really good hidden gems. It’s so incredible to read story like yours, the calling to make a different in every person’s life you come across. That’s a great but tough burden to carry. I’m really inspired by you. So if you’d be able to, please check it out!

    1. Snarkypastorswife? I’m sold on the name alone! Thank you for all of the compliments! That’s my second Leibster Award nomination this week and I am so, so flattered. Now I have twice as many questions to answer!!
