The Palms needs teachers!

Today I asked one of my students what her favorite animal was and she said, “Cangrejitos,” which means, “Little crabs,” which is a very random favorite animal for a four year old to have.

And now that I’ve got you hooked (heh), here is a shameless plug (no really, I’m shameless) for our school. We need teachers! Good ones. Who love Jesus and know a lot of songs because songs are fun!

The Palms Christian School is a bilingual (Spanish and English) preK – 8th grade school in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic. Finishing up its fifth year, The Palms (or “Las Palmas”) has grown exponentially since its founding in 2009. To keep up with this growth and to maintain quality English-instruction, each year Las Palmas seeks excellent teachers grounded in faith with a desire to make a difference in the lives of students. Each grade K-5 has an American teacher who teaches English Language Arts, Science, and Math and a Dominican teacher who teaches Social Studies, Spanish, and Bible. This system allows for a truly bilingual educational experience. For the upcoming school year, our (American) teacher needs are as follows:

  • 1st grade
  • 5th grade
  • 6th grade
  • Middle school (7th-9th) for English only

If you are interested in teaching at The Palms, please e-mail our director, Lynn Cunningham, at lynn.cunningham1979@gmail.com. It never hurts to ask! Spanish is not a requirement, although it does help. Also, commitments are only one year. One year living in the Caribbean getting paid to teach? Sounds pretty good, right? Right.
