i am grateful (for the cross).

And with him they crucified two robbers, one on his right and one on his left. And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, “Aha! You would would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself and come down from the cross!” So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself. Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe.” – Mark 15:27-32

i am grateful for the cross. i am grateful for the man on the cross. for the men on either side of the man on the cross who were also hanging on crosses. i am grateful for the man who prayed “let this cup pass from me.” i am grateful for the prayer, “not my will, but your’s.” i am grateful for real and deep down pain. i am grateful for all that was felt that day by the man on the cross.

i am grateful that He did not get down. oh, how he must have wanted to get down! i am grateful for 100% man and 100% God and i am grateful that in this moment the 100% man decided to stay even though the 100% God could’ve walked away.

i am grateful for the torn veil! Hallelujah! for the way paved. for the door opened. for the separation ripped down and made a non-issue. i am grateful for the sacrifice that made a life of goodness and Godness possible.

i am grateful that Christ, the King of Israel and the King of me, did not come down now from the cross. i am grateful for those, like me, who have seen and believed anyway. i am grateful for the cross.
